Hi everyone!

Just wanted to say thanks for all the support I have been receiving on my more recently uploaded Legend of Zelda set:
Link: fav.me/d36yhx8 fav.me/d36yhx8 fav.me/d36yhx8
Midna: fav.me/d388vss fav.me/d388vss fav.me/d388vss

and the newest one
Sheik: fav.me/d396drr fav.me/d396drr fav.me/d396drr

I'm really happy that they have been really well received, and I look forward to sharing more art with you in the future.

If you are interested in ordering any prints from me. Please feel free to send me a note!

Also, I wanted to answer a question about the watermarks that are on the newer pieces I have been uploading.

While I have been away from DA, I noticed several of my artworks have been stolen, as well as other Deviants, and reposted on other websites without any credit. Some of these websites steal artworks to use as "stock". So for example, they will cut out the character art, out of the background, and make them available for use as stock with transparent backgrounds for anyone to make anything out of them. These websites never provide credit or link back to the original artist of the pieces. They also use these stolen works as content for their website to generate income for themselves through Ads. :(

To me, I do not mind if my art is being reposted to different websites and shared with others, as long as it is left unaltered from the original. However, I want to be given credit and linked back, because at the very least, as an artist I can receive some promotion, and more people can discover my artworks. ^^;

I think that watermarking is an understandable alternative. Also, this is probably be the best deterrent to prevent artwork from being stolen and sold on eBay so easily, or finding it at a local Asian mall being sold unauthorized as a t-shirt/merchandise print. X__X

Thanks for reading!

That sucks you get your art stolen :(. Watermarks make artwork ugly and less desirable to share, save, and cherish.

I hate that but in all reality nayuki you know when your a good artist when some1 has to steal your stuff. Thats a bigger credit to you honestly. You should contact them in a calm way saying "I don't care that your using my art, just give me the credit". I dont know.

I had the pleasure meeting you briefly at MegaCon, don't know if you remember I was asking about Sakura from street fighter.

Yeah I know the kind of sites your talking about, people use those cut out pngs to create anime graphics like wallpapers right? I agree that at the very least they should give credit, and putting watermarks on your work was the right thing to do!

I find it sad that those who spend a lot of time on their work get shoved to corner while the one recolouring gets the fame. That's why we have watermarks but people still steal others work.

That's so messed up. I even see idiots on Myspace and Photobucket uploading recolors of DA people's stuff. It's so stupid.

Its sad for me to see that artist stop posting works cause they get their works stolen. ): Hopefully the watermarks will prevent people from stealing the artworks, cause seeing your works gives me some motivation boost to try and better myself. (:

I personnally feel we need a nother solution... a water marks do not affect the entire image and can be cut around it... unless it does affect the entire image in which case it be comes intrusive... It annoys me when an artist puts watermarks on their images because it distorts the image and I begin to agonize over the fact that I cant see the image in all its glory... One day I will create an organization of artists, that will work protect the hard work in which is the internet, and I will see to it that it becomes law that a law is passed stating:

Unless stated otherwise, specifically, in wording that cannot mean anything else, and stands alone, as a single separate sentence or paragraph, that this material may not be altered in any way, duplicated, or removed from this page unless...

and here you would clearly and concisely state your exceptions
it is otherwise assumed that you must either give clear and unmistakeable credit to the artist, or suffer a large fine and Jail, all money from the fine would be left to the artist untaxed, without exception.

The organization would then handle all complaints and would perhaps have its own separate system to judge people on. (so as to reduce complaints that we shouldn't be worrying about this when we have murderers around. Because a thief is a murderer, a murderer of the pride of an artist for the success of a job well done, along with potential income.

See the problem with that idea, its like downloading music, people know its illegal and whose gonna stop them? The internet is far to large to be just monitored like that. Most people probably don't feel guilty about downloading music without buying it, its kinda same case with stealing art, those guys that take those art works usually aren't gonna care, and thats why some artist try to use watermarks to protect their wort like that, even though it may not be the most effective method.

i actually saw a pic of kevin's out on DA exactly as you described, someone had removed the background on his ichigo picture and posted it as their own.

Yea, it really sucks when that happens. Even with my older pieces (ie. Grimmjow [link]) it has my DA address lightly watermarked on it, but they cut out the character, so it cut out alot of the watermark. And in trying to make the watermark as unintrusive as possible (by making it very light) it ended up being very easy overlook too once cut out from the background.

This is why we can't have nice things. :(

I know how about a bomb... to violent

Even better "cut" them out of their "background" and sell them... oh wait they wouldn't sell because they're so "cheap"

in all seriousness it is a problem, its called plagiarism, I don't know if you do this but you can use a Creative Commons license. I'm still working on figuring out how that gets in-forced though, and copy-write what you are most proud of... and do it quick, combine pieces to save cost... just protect it with the use of the law... And mind you shitheels, the internet is not a synonym for the public domain... on many occasion the people, both utilizes and authors alike, have spoken. we put work into what we do and you aint having any of it.
